TAD - SINGLES 01 (1988 - 1990)

Been meaning to get some collections of singles on the blog, and here's a band that needs no lengthy or snarky description. Tad and 4 early singles, most of which on Sub Pop.

- Daisy / Ritual Device (Sub Pop - 1988)
- Live: Assmaster / Wood Goblins (Bootleg - 1989)
- Jack Pepsi CD single: Jack Pepsi / Eddie Hook / Pig Iron / Plague Years (Sub Pop - 1990)
- Loser / Cooking With Gas (Sub Pop - 1990)

ENOB - DEMER DEZVOUS (2014)

From Paris, France, comes Enob (Bone backwards?) and their newest effort "Demer Dezvous' released right towards the end of 2014. Wasn't familiar with their stuff before but I like it. They blend spacey/shoegazery guitars like Young Widows, with industrial tinged textures like a Distorted Pony, with chaotic feedbacking and caterwauling spasms like a Arab on Radar or Ed Hall mix. Electrocutes the nervous system...in a good way.

KARP / RYE COALITION SPLIT (1997)

Not sure how I made it this far without posting this precious gem of a jewel of a treasure. 2 killer 90s noyse rock bands, Karp (Olympia, Wa) and Rye Coalition (Jersey City, New Joisy), coming together for a split, and also to split your skull open. Originally a 12" released in 1995 with less songs, this CD version has more. More is better right? I mean why the hell wouldn't you want more? Jeez, that's just a bunch of crazy talk. Don't be crazy. Get this now!
(Troubleman Unlimited - 1997)

DEAF WISH - DEAF WISH (2007/2011/2014)

Australian noiserawk from Deaf Wish. This is their 3rd album and was actually a CDr released back in 2007 originally. Theeeen they re-released a small run of 250 with artwork in 2011 on Radio Records...aaaaand nooooow re-re-released on Homeless records in 2014. Whew. Got that?
Also, they recently put out a 7" by some label called Sub Pop. Some small label that will probably fizzle out in a few months.
This shit will smack you around til you're bloody and leave you in the desert for the buzzards to munch.

TUNIC / CONDUCT SPLIT 7" (2014)

Split 7" from noise rock hitters Tunic and Conduct, both from Winnipeg, Canada. Apparently there are 500 copies of these bad-boys floating around, but I haven't been able to find a physical copy. Maybe you have to live in Canada to own one.
Anywho, this is Tunic's first recording, a killer noise rock blast-o-rama. And the Conduct song comes from their 'Fear and Desire' album, due out early 2015 on Public Tone. Oh, and its recorded by Mr. Steve Albini too, so you know the noisy/post-rock action you're getting into. Capturing the spirit of 90's Touch and Go and Dischord sounds, this makes me excited for the new album and more. Krack-ka-pow!

THEM TEETH - DEMOS (2014)

Had this in the hopper before the Holidays and never got around to posting it. Better late than never right? Actually checked to make sure they didn't have something newer by the time I got to this.
Noisy, sludge punk band from West Michigan (Grand Haven, Muskegon).
Ex-members of Rough Rope/The Nain Rouge and Idol and the Whip.
This is their 6-song demo. Check 'er out.
(Self-released - 2014)

STRAPHANGER - THE GRAIN BELT (2002)

Here's some semi-obscure stuff for ya. From Grand Forks, North Dakota, Straphanger drives the ladies crazy with their hard driving indie/post-rock/noise sound and their utter dedication to cheap beer made in Minnesota...Similar style to Dianogah, Dis, Crownhate Ruin or June of 44.
(Genuflect Records - 2002)

QUATRE TÊTE - ART OF THE STATE (2008)

Damnit, I can never remember the keyboard shortcut to do a ' Ê '.

Ahhh Chicago rock. Chicago artwork. Chicago production. RIP Harry Caray!
Mathy /noise-rock/ post-rock kickassness from now defunct Quatre Tête. Best 90s sounding band to come out in the 2000s. Seriously, this is updated and yes it has all the tight, angular and atypical arrangements, time signatures and thick riffage that lead you to comparisons with Jesus Lizard, The Fucking Champs and Shellac for sure. They nail it. And imagine a Drive Like Jehu/Hot Snakes kind of vocal vibe howling at you snidely.
This is technically their 2nd release for those with scorecards. Their first is a tough to find self-released CDr (I believe). Mandatory.
(Bec-Rec/Sickroom - 2008)

CHUMPS - LIKE A CHAMPION (2014)

Here's some good noise rockin shite from Chumps outta NY. A full-on blast of 10 songs to knock your block off. And Chumps is a great band name too. Simple and right to the point.
They definitely fit into a mold constructed of early Amrep, some Young Widows thrown in, and equal parts Hot Snakes and Metz. This will get you amped and ramped up, so get it you chumps! (See! it works).

THIN PRIVILEGE - DOES NOT EXIST EP (2014)

So Happy New Year all!
Here's the first post of 2015. Even though the release date is the very last day of 2014, I thought it would be a good one to start off the new year with. A new 4-song EP from UKs Thin Privilege.
These guys put an album out last year that made my best of 2014 list.
So you should check that out after you listen to this EP.
And according to their site, they had a final show and this is their final ep, which I assume why the name.
Bummer. Great band.
