THEM WOLVES - GERMAN FOR DUKE (2013)

Burly...fuzzy...chunky...feedback laden...bitter tasting.... stick in the throat, noise rock from West Midlands, Uk....Them Wolves.

This here be their debut 5 song ep, with hopefully more to come.

If you dig godheadSilo, Hammerhead, Buzzoven, Fight Amp, Whores, Blacklisters, then this outta twist your titties into a bunch.

VOLCANOES - HEAVY HANDS (2012)

More 2-piece, bass and drums, loud rock. This time from Volcanoes from St. Louis, Mo.

Of course you like Lightning Bolt, Gay Witch Abortion, Dead...that sort of fracas.
Throw in some elements of Milemarker and Girls Against Boys and we're in business.

You will want to inject this into your brain waves and ear drums ASAP and start dancing!

KICK NURSE - HORSE CONDUIT EP (2014)

Kick Nurse are from Brighton, UK.
They play a hypnotic, chaotic, intricate and disorienting mathy style of noise rock on this 3 song EP.

Say you're at home carving tiny sculptures out of pencil tips and erasers, and you have this on in the background, without looking, you could easily think you're hearing 10 different songs.
Yeah, one of those kind of bands.

They pull sounds from Don Caballero, Unwound, UOA, A Minor Forest, US Maple and even some Slint-y moments. You're interested now, right?

PISSED JEANS - SHALLOW (2005)

So here's fixing shit fast.
Pissed Jeans first album. Before Sub Pop scooped them up to make them billionaires.

8 songs...pissed off, crooked and ugly... Like your stepbrother Brutus.
But he is probably the one that got you into Pissed Jeans in the first place, right?

PISSED JEANS - THE BEST OF SUB POP 2009-2013: "LIVE" At The BBC (2014)

And now for some new(ish) school Sub Pop.

Not sure what's going on with that long-ass title and claiming to best of Sub Pop, instead of just saying...Pissed Jeans live at the BBC. Am I right?
So yeah, this is 4 songs released for Record Store Day last year, and of course it sounds amazing.

You get these smash hits:
Romanticize Me
False Jesii Pt. 2
Cafeteria Food
Teenage Adult

And holy crapholes if this isn't the first Pissed Jeans album on staticfraction? What the HELL?!?!
I'm totally slacking.
I'll get right on fixing that in the near future.

FUCK ME I'M RICH - SUB POP COMP (1990)

Old school Sub Pop compilation...that wasn't on Sub Pop.

Mudhoney - Touch Me I'm Sick
Tad - Ritual Device
Blood Circus - Two Way Street
Swallow - Trapped
Soundgarden - Hunted Down
Mudhoney - In 'N' Out Of Grace

MALM - HÜLLENLOS (2013)

Malm are from Würzburg, Germany and have been around since 2000 (ish).
I’m not completely 100% sure of that fact, but that’s what info I gathered.
Feel free to share info if you know more.

So to be honest I wasn’t familiar with these dudes, which is weird since they’ve been around and kicking for so long. But goddamn I know them now!! And you should too.

Chugging, pummeling and thumping bass and drums, buzzsaw battering geetars, and raw and crushing vocals push these 10 songs through the noise rock wood chipper with a full throttle assault, and angular off kilter riffs twisting your head and neck back 'n forth like a spastic rubberband along the way. Goddamn. Goddamn I say!!!
Fans of Jesus Lizard, Unsane, Glazed Baby, Haystack, Slug, take Goddamn note! Damnit!

ANASAZI - NASTY WITCH ROCK (2015)

Here's some gothy, dark style death rock from London, UKs Anasazi.
An unholy mix of dark wave, fuzzed out garage, and blown out distorted and echoey post-rock noise elements, Nasty Witch Rock is 10 hexing spells that will zombify you in seconds.

This be their first full length after a few early singles.
So take early TSOL, Damned, Halo Of Flies, Skullflower and Birthday Party and mix into a brewing, bubbling cauldron with bats breath, spider eyes, troll fat, grave dust and virgin's blood, for a beastly rock potion.

HEAD OF DAVID - WHITE ELEPHANT (1989)

So here's a cool Peel Sessions thing for ya!
Head of David's White Elephant, which is actually 2 sessions mashed together on one release.
The first 3 songs are from 1986. The last 4 songs from 1987.

In case you're unfamiliar with HOD, this was one of Justin Broadricks (Godflesh, Jesu) earliest projects. This is less on the heavy pummeling side than Godflesh, but it still has that familiar sound.
Imagine if Godflesh and Jesus Lizard drank a case of beer together. Yup.

THE MEN - IMMACULADA (2010)

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
I'm sure you guys are familiar with The Men. They're kinda big(ish).... As in popular.
Not sure about physical size of the members, so I apologize if they're watching their weight.

Anyway, before they were big and famous garage rockers, they were a knock down drag out noise rock band.
I posted their first EP a while back on the blog, but this is their actual first full length. They self-released this originally with a small run of pressings. But later some smart folks over at Deranged Records realized how goddamn good this was and gave it the re-issue treatment. Good for them, good for us!

Its the weekend. Let's end this week with more Peel Sessions.
Here's Shellac and their live set at Maida Vale from 02.12.2004. 49 minutes long.
Just a heads up...this is one long track. That's how I got it and I'm too lazy to break it all up into individual tracks. Sorry folks.
Enjoy.

FASHION WEEK - PRÊT-À-PORTER (2014)

New(ish) cranking barn burner full length from Brooklyn's Fashion Week is a brain, face, ear cavity, nostril cavity, eyeball, nipple, knee cap and arse wrecker.
I honestly hadn't heard these fellers before, so I looked up some info. Turns out all the info was a farce, taking Nirvana's career and adding a fun twist of their own. Points for humor.

The music is anything but a fun romp through the funnies section though. This is filled with all kinds of can-opened, Unsane, JJ Paradise Players Club, Today is the Day, Cave In, Coalesce whoop-ass.
So grab it if you know what's good for ya.

'You'... get your vile, waxy, hairy earhole canals decimated.

ARE WE ELECTRIC? - NOVOC (2004)

Ha! NOT a band that starts with 'P'. Although maybe I shoulda kept 'em going.

So here's something a little different. This is band submission of sorts.
Actually this is an old, now defunct band of Ralf, who is staticfraction's unofficial blog contributor.

Featuring ex-members of Bhang Dextro and Craving, Are We Electric (Stuttgart, Germany) blast out surf rock tinged noise/wave/kraut/punk rock... like a missing link between Man Or Astroman? and Jesus Lizard, with influences of early Devo and Gang Of Four.
(Red Can Records - 2004)

DL: NOVOC

PINNACLE - SHAKEY EP (2015)

Another 'P' band... I swear I'm not doing this on purpose...I noticed after I wrote the post.

So, Pinnacle is from San Luis Obispo, Ca.... Where the Hell?
I've never heard of this town, so I had to look it up.
They claim to be the Happiest Place in America. Maybe so, but you wouldn't know it from this band.

They are one pissed off, angry and aggressive, post-hardcore/noise rock band. Me likes.
3 song ep here, so hopefully more on the way.
Imagine some Kowloon Walled City, some Unwound, some Karp, some Dead and Gone.
You pickin' up what I'm puttin' down? Good.

PART CHIMP - LIVE SET FROM ATP PEEL SESSION #2 (2004)

Ok so if you pay close attention to the 3 bands I posted today, you may think I’m just going through the ‘P’ folder on my music hard drive. But alas, I didn’t plan it that way. Although not a bad way to think about posting stuff in the future.

Anywho, the result of the Part Chimp Peel Session is here just because I’ve been on a Peel kick lately. This is a little different for a Peel Sessions take as it was recorded live at All Tomorrows Parties in 2004. This would be their 2nd Peel Sessions…uh…session. Its 7 live blasts from these UK noise mongers, that sound fucking fantastic.
Get on it pronto!!

THE PAPER CHASE - YOUNG BODIES HEAL QUICKLY YOU KNOW (2000)

The Paper Chase were an experimental rock band from Dallas, Texas (1998-2010).
This was their debut album which is more guitar driven. The albums that follow, while still containing guitar elements, start introducing other instrumentation to help create their insane and jarring experimental compositions.
That's right kids, these songs are compositions. Big words I’ve learned to throw around.

I can’t really say that these guys ‘sound like’ anyone else, as they take discordant melody and jagged noise pop and mix in abrasive prog, indie grit, punk anger, delicate piano and cello melodies and explosive noise pummeling along with samples and sounds. You want spinning emotion, and uncomfortable confusion?
You got it right here bud.
(Beatville - 2000)

DL: YOUNG BODIES

POSTER CHILDREN - FLOWER POWER (1989)

Poster Children was from Champaign, Illinois, forming in 1987.
They were known for their ‘Chicago post-rock sound’ recording most of their stuff in the 90s.
This is their first album which was out in the late 80s.
Goddamn thats a long time ago. Sheesh.

So I always thought this album should’ve been on Touch and Go because, well…it sounds like it should be.
But I guess things don't always work out that way.
The important thing, is that you can have it now, regardless of label, year, clothing fads. Snag up some history.

Wouldn’t school and history lessons been way more fun if they incorporated bands and info? I probably wouldn't have skipped so much. Nah. I probably still would have.

THROTH - DRIVER EP (2015)

Let's stick with the heavy and punishing goodness.
Different kind of heavy and punishing from the last post, but with same results.
Throth is from the UK, and this is their brand spankin' new 3-song anvil whammy!

You like Godflesh? Of course you do. How bout Swans? Om? Earth? I thought so.

Heavy sludge riffs and piledrivers! Both the construction machine and the wrestling move.

UNHOLY TWO - CUT THE MUSIC (I'M THE NGHTSTALKER) 7" (2012)

This is a 2-song single pummeling you with thick walls of brutal and crushing blows after blows to the solar plexus, with unrelenting feedback and careening soul stomping drums.

SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE - HEXADIC (2015)

Six Organs of Admittance is basically a music project of guitarist Ben Chasny, who has been making eclectic, avant-guarde and psychedelic infused rocknroll since the late 90s. He is also know for working with Comets on Fire, Current 93, Sun City Girls, as well as others.

This is their/his newest effort, Hexadic, a 9-song album that weaves in and out of your brian matter with fuzzed out and drugged out wavering sounds, ambient, droney texture, and straight, balls out noise rock. This is their like 10 billionth record, but its still sounds like they’re still pushing the soundscape envelope.

UNSANE - ATTACK IN JAPAN 'LIVE' (1996)

Its Friday! Time for the weekend!
Let's kick things off with the kings of noise rock...and some live UNSANE!

This is a live recording from back in 1996 so you get Scrape starting things off. Then they roll on through, bringing the brutality with Street Sweeper, Body Bomb, Urge to Kill, Empty Cartridge and more. 11 songs in all and they sound great.

That's all I need to say. Crack open some beers, download this, and get the weekend started right!!

BIG BLACK - PEEL SESSIONS 7" (1988)

Been on a Peel Sessions kick lately.
Why? Because these little different recordings are fucking cool. Let's keep 'em going.

This is the 4 song session that Big Black did back in 1987. The sound quality isn't great, but isn't piss poor either.

Features Steve Albini 'Throbbing muscle of love guitar and cat being run over vocals'.
Santiago Durango 'Rambo guitar and electrodes to the gonads vocals'.
And David Riley 'Subsonic, chainsaw bass, court stud-master and band philosopher.

MADRASO - THE THEME OF CONSEQUENSE (2007)

Hey you! Check it out! More explosive, jagged and angry noise rock from Seattle's Madraso.

I posted their full length a short bit ago right here.
This is their equally brain ratcheting and face pummeling 7-song ep that preceded that record.
Its a self released endeavor, and sounds fantastic.

BACON WAGON - SPLIT 7"S (2004 / 2008)

Bacon Wagon you say? Is that a cart that comes around your home and rings a bell. Then we all pile out of our homes to get some yummy bacon in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Like the ice cream man...only...with bacon!! Damn that sounds good.

OK lets get to what this is really about. Bacon Wagon is/was from Sweden and play dirty, crunchy and thick noise rock. These 2 split slabs from back in 2004 and 2008 will smack you silly. One with fellow Swedes, Instrumen. The other with Dactyl from the US, who all play similar, heavy and ear distorting noise rock. A full length by Bacon Wagon floats in the archives if you feel like going on a bacon hunt.

Umm yes I'll take a bacon snow cone, a bacon push-up pop, and a bacon crunch bar.

Was doing some file organization and came across this little ditty. So I'm passing it along to you now.

4 song, double single between Boise, Idaho's Treepeople, and North Carolina's Archers of Loaf.
Here you'll find, each band covering each other on 2 songs. You know, the 'ol switch-er-roo trick.

Both bands are defunct now, but that shouldn't stop you from cranking these noisy indie rawk numbers all the way up.

RODAN - AVIARY & OUT OF PRINT / LIVE / PEEL SESSIONS (1994)

Just found this awesome site and had to share it with you cool people. I'm not gonna explain who Rodan are.
If you don't know them...then you have some homework to do.

Blue Screen Life basically has everything Rodan released with the exception of their full length, 'Rusty'.
Man, the internet rules, doesn't it?

Some of this stuff has been re-issued on the 'Fifteen Quiet Years' release that came out a couple years back. But there's definitely some other cool treats here, including their first, Aviary cassette.

Live stuff. Comp songs. Their 7". Peel Sessions. All from around 1994. Dig in, explore and enjoy!

Nazi Gold is a rock band from Austin, Texas, featuring members of Fleshlights, Dead Space, and Swans.
4-song loud rock EP that harkens back to early SST days.
Minutemen and fIREHOSE, with maybe some Hoover thrown in for good measure.
This is their 2nd release, after 2012s full length also found on their bandcamp page. I had a bit of a hard time getting thru the full lp, but this ep is more digestible. Especially with a tall, tasty brewski. Gulp!

JARS - NO (2015)

So this is the new 8-song noise barrage from Russian Federation’s Jars. I was prepared to tell you how great a noise rock record this was, but after listening a more couple times, there’s a lot going on in this bundle. Every song seems to have a different energy and vibe… in a good way…weaving in and out of a variety of sounds.

Songs go from noise rock punches like an Unsane and Pissed Jeans, then get blazing hardcore fast like Grimple or Born Against. Then they slow things down adding power crunches like Nirvana, after which weaving back through aggressive Today is the Day anger, and even dirty it up, like a Drunks With Guns record.

Pretty killer stuff. Do yourseff a favor and snag this now. Get it a couple of times why not. Your ears will love you and hate you. Kinda like your significant other.

Molasses are 2 chicks from the UK who are not afraid of this ugly music.
In fact they embrace it, and crank out some noisy, and sometimes mathy, post-rock themselves.
Pretty good I'd say.
What you'll find here are links to their 3 EPs, the first 2 being self-outputted, released between 2012-2014.

That date that you see above...2002...is not accurate for these recordings. This is a collection of ugly dirge rock from 1981-1988 from Dallas, Texas vermin, Stick Men With Ray Guns.
Like I said this is ugly, scummy and raucous goodness to ruin your day.

MADRASO - VAN HORNE (2008)

So that Cartographer got me thinking 'bout another favorite record. And a band I've been meaning to (re)post here for a while from when I started the blog a while back.
Madraso are basically unknowns, but goddamn this record needs to be known!
This is the first and only full length from these fellers from Seattle, and was one of my favorite albums from 2008. They have a short EP before this, and a split 7" with Blackhole as well.

You like Drive Like Jehu?
How about Faucet? Yes?
Remember those awesome Fiddlehead singles? Yep.
Table was pretty amazing, you like them? Mmmhmm.
And of course you dig Helmet yeah?
So take all those bands and duct tape and staple gun them together with hot glue and gasoline.

CARTOGRAPHER - HATS, CAPES, DARK ARTS (2011)

The other day, I did a big ‘ol mega-post…talkin’ up the cool Radio Is Down label. Well I purposely left Cartographer off of that list, because I wanted to give them their own post. Not taking anything away from the other great bands on that other post, I just thought these ex-Replicator dudes from Oakland, CA, deserved an individual shout out!

This album was one of my favorites from back in 2011, and it mixes all the Helmet and Shellac sounds to make a person cream his/her noise rock sweat leggings. And not sure if these guys are still kicking it around, and are planning new material or tours, but lets keep our fingers twisted, bent and crossed  that they do.

RID was only responsible for the CD version of this album, while another label did the vinyl. So find them both, and put a big goddamn smile on that ugly mug of yours. Go ahead. Trust me.

SUPER LUXURY - TEN SOLID YEARS OF APPLAUSE (2015)

So really all you need to know from UKs Super Luxury to get you to pay attention, is…that they have one of the best album covers. I mean c’mon, Hall and Oats. You can’t get any better than that. Also, you need to know they have a song about Ian Mackaye making so much money that he has a solid gold car. So there's that.

Those facts, mixed with a commotion that sounds like The Jesus Lizard, Karp, and AC/DC having a conniption fit in a garbage dumpster full of reciprocating saws, should be enough to get the job done.
