WRONG - STOP GIVING EP (2014)

I remember the first time I saw Helmet. It was 1990 or 91. I was living in a rural midwest neighborhood. It was nice and clean. I heard Strap It On and was blown away. I needed to see these dudes live. The closest place they were playing at that time was a small college town about an hour and a half away. So me and 2 buddies piled in the car, made the trek, and the 3 of us as well as about 47 other people were lucky enough to see them tear through their full length as well as preview which would later become In the Meantime. Man, those were the days.
Oh, this band here Wrong from Miami FL, sound like Helmet, in a good way, and brought back good memories. Yeah!

STEEL POLE BATH TUB - BOZEMAN / BORSTAL 7" (1992)

Continuing on with more industrial strength noise rock from Steel Pole Bath Tub here on the 'ol blaaag. Here's their smokin' 2 song 7"er from 1992.... like a bottle spun loose on the concrete I crawl...

MULTICULT - VARIABLE IMPULSE (2014)

Pleasantly surprised to see (and hear) this. Brand new 4 song has been on repeat all day giving me a perma-grin starting from one earlobe, down around past my hairy nostrils and creeping back up to the other wax crusted earlobe. Jesus Lizard, meets Tar, meets Cherubs meets Janitor Joe. Yup.

CAULK - LEARN TO TAKE... (1994)

The 90s were full of one-off bands doing pretty similar heavy and melodic stuff. This was one of those bands that only released this 6 song EP and nothing else. (as far as I know). Listening to this for the first time in years, it still holds up pretty well. This is less on on the typical noise rock style found here, and more on heavy grunge side. Stuff that you would find on Headhunter records or Sympathy. You know, Fluf meets Hum meets Pipe meets Nirvana.
Now where are my cutoff jean shorts and flannels?

FANGE - POISSE (2014)

Super heavy, ultra distorted and massively loud sludge from Fange, a 3 piece from Rennes. As they put it...FANGE (means "mire" in french) and they make harsh riffs and hard beats, with huge amounts of distorted sound and feedback. Also joined by Jyb from Zalhietzli for sonic manipulations and throat scuffings.
Don't know much else about them, but this rumbled my floor and chair, as well as the ass sitting on said chair. If my ass is rumbled, then it works for me.

So I keep telling myself, self...you gotta get your lazy ass posting more Steel Pole Bath Tub on that blog o' yours. The good people need it. So here's your soundtrack to a late night of amphetamines, rusty car parts, whiskey, rubbing alcohol, grease fires and bad tv.
5 song 2x7" single from one of the best noise rock outfits that ever was.
Shit to mess up your ears and head...in a good way.

HEADWAX - HEADWAX (2011)

Headwax is some rippin' noiserock kickassness from Toulouse France.
If Glazed Baby met Shellac and Tar at a bar with Young Widows and did shots of Malort all night, the after party would turn into this. Don't really know much else about them, except that they smacked me in the kisser like a watermelon launcher backfiring. Haha!
Thanks to friends over at ouspenskyfallexo.blogspot.com for posting this.

PENTHOUSE - RECKS (1997)

Here's a dirty little badass boogie woogie bluesrock noise number from the UK, circa 1997 for ya. A healthy (or unhealthy) mix of bluesy drunk skank similar to that of a Killdozer or Mule bourbon bath, mixed with maniacal, possessed vocals and thudding and driving rhythms straight out of a beat up Jesus Lizard cassette.
The tracks you get here include extras not on the original release. Reminds you of times when the bar closes, but you're allowed to stick around afterwards for a few more freebies. Neat-o.

TODD - PURITY PLEDGE (2004)

Heavy, pummeling, sludgy, pounding, noisy, crunchy, messy and balls out!

This is the first full length album from Todd from waaay back in 2004 (ha). It features Craig Clouse who was in Shit and Shine and Crown Roast, so you know its gonna rip you a new one. And its not just 12 tracks of simple noise, there are complex and smart parts mixing and mashing it up. Throw some dark humored lyrics in and you're full speed ahead on the riding lawnmower without brakes after the neighbor kids showered your lawn with broken bricks and softball sized rocks.

GODHEADSILO - ELEPHANTITUS OF THE NIGHT (1994)

This was originally a 2-song 7"er. But the CD version (which is this) has extra songs. 3 from Thee Friendship Village EP and a track from the Stars Kill Rock Compilation. godheadSilo was a duo that existed in the mid-90s and blasted out blown-out and punch to the mouth noise rawk righteousness.

SNAKE APARTMENT - PAINT THE WALLS (2007)

Music to get pissed ass drunk, huff paint thinner, & set a flaming pentagram of dog shit on the Cops front step to.
Down and dirty dirge punk from Snake Apartment outta Providence RI who could have easily been on Trance Syndicate or Load records. Don't think they're around anymore, but I could be making shit up. Drunkdriver meets Pissed Jeans meets Black Flag. Definitely some Greg Ginn style going on. OK now hand over the paint can.

COWS - CHOW 7" (1988)

Ok chuckleheads. Here ya go.
The Cows first single from way back. Those in the know, know that Hepa/Titus (post-Cows... duh) and Buzzo (from Melvins... big 'ol duh) just covered this song on a new 7" on Amrep. Its pretty goddamn good too.
This is the original for those curious or just needing to fill that hole in the collection. Duh.

MNJENJE - ZUBIMA PO LJUDIMA (2014)

This one gets filed under one of those times I'm glad I don't do a podcast or radio show and would have to pronounce this, cuz I would butcher this faster than Sam bringing Alice the meat.

So Mnjenje is a 4-member crunch rock group from Belgrade, Serbia and they make one helluva loud racket. Hardcore energy mixed with krautrock rhythms, thumping bass, tons of feedback and a mathrock undertone. And apparently these guys are playing with Hammerhead in the fall too so you can't go wrong with that now can you.
Nope, didn't think so.

4-song ep from Birth Control from Philadelphia. Kick-arse noisy rock ala Drunkdriver, Condominium, and Pissed Jeans. This was actually the drummer that went on to Pissed Jeans. Your soundtrack before heading to Target to buy $100 worth of crap you don't need. Well ok some of you probably need mouthwash.

Former members of the 90s noise rock heathens The Cows, post band called Hepa-Titus. This is their 3rd full length and 2nd on Amrep. LP and art by HazeXXL of course.
8 new rock 'em, sock 'em rollers just to ugly up your day.
