RECTAL HYGIENICS - ULTIMATE PURITY (2015)

Rectal Hygienics are from Chicago, IL and play a heavy-ass, blown the fuck out, dirty, sludge style of noise rock. Sounds good right? Of course. There's nothing happy and pretty happening here.
If you're into Twin Stumps. Flipper, Drunkdriver, powertakeOff!, Grids, Rusted Shut, then you'll enjoy being pulverized by this. 8 thick slabs of devastating and pummeling hate, and crushing brutality go on a belligerent and battering rampage, leaving a dark and crumpled aftermath in your earholes and head cavitites. Hell yes!

MILK FOR PUSSY - A COMPILATION (1993)

Here's a cool mid 90s comp that features some mid 90s bands for your mid 90s collection.
You get...Cows, Babes in Toyland, Eleventh Dream Day, Pogo the Clown, House of Large Sizes, Love Battery, God's Acre, Teenage Larvae, Steel Pole Bath Tub and more. You want it, you got it.

MIDWIVES - LP (2015)

Here's some rock goodness for ya from the Midwives who live, eat, sleep, drink and shit in Milwaukee, WI. This is their brand new LP... 10 songs of gritty, dirty and without care or concern, noise punk. Similar to what you might get if you mixed Drunks With Guns, Pissed Jeans and Fang with gunpowder. For the most part the songs rip and tear forward and on through your ass, but there's a couple songs with lurching and slower aspects reminding me of old Melvins, Flipper or Virulence.
Perfect background music for watching fail videos of children and old people falling down over and over, or animals attacking humans.

LIGHTNING BOLT - 20 (1997 / 2012)

"20" was recorded on August 11, 1997. Re-released 02 April 2012.
The concept was simple, set up a clock, start playing the pattern and when the clock hits 20 minutes switch to part 2. The strange thing is on this take we change at the 19 minute mark, defeating the whole purpose of the concept. The only possibility is that time must have been different back then. Either way it was an endurance test and hypnotic experiment. And in a way is the most Lightning Boltesque song of all Lightning Bolt songs. -LB

PAUWELS - ELINA (2015)

7 song banger from Pauwels outta Mulhouse, France. This is part noise rock, part math rock, part stoner rock, and part psychedelic. So imagine The Fucking Champs, Don Caballero, Desert Sessions, and Mr. Bungle all spinning on 'The Round Up' carnival ride with no off switch, whilst being smacked over the head over and over and over. How does that work for ya?

THE STICKMEN - THE STICKMEN (1998 / 2015)

This is fucking great. A nice re-issue from The Stickmen (Melbourne) and their first, self-titled album from back in 1998. Homeless Records, from down under, who already have a stellar catalog with the likes of Sewers, Cunts, Gentlemen, Yes, I'm Leaving, Shovels...all stuff here at the blog if you care to dive back, add The Stickmen to their roster batting clean-up.
They did a limited edition of 350 on vinyl with new artwork (which is what's shown here)... and is pretty much gone. But you might be able to dig one up on eBay or something. But most importantly the music. Its here. Right here. Snag up some sticks pronto.

Well since I posted those 2 Craw singles earlier, I thought I'd fling a full length album your way.
Lost Nation Road being their 2nd of 4. More of that hyper noisy, start and stop, riff and groove heavy, contorted and controlled, math-core rock and fucking roll. And of course Albini is spinning knobs behind this one as well. RIYL: Helmet, Melvins, Dazzling Killmen, Don Caballero, Botch.

WE LIVE IN TRENCHES - LIFE CRISIS (2014)

(Band submission)
This was sent to me from a guy named Ulf. Thanks dude.
We Live In Trenches are a killer noise rock posse from Sweden. Slit throat vocals and a rhythm section that constructs a sound that could make up walls in a panic room. These rabble-rousers have all the components you need for a whirling, pummeling machine of death. Noisy, chaotic, driving, walloping. Take this to buddy's place, crank it up and jump around, throw furniture, and break shit. Don't break your own stuff, ok?

GLAZED BABY - ATOMIC COMMUNISTS (1996)

Since we're on the subjects of fucking killer and top shelf noise rock bands, and making this a pretty badass little throwback Sunday, here's another I'd been meaning to post. Glazed Baby were a heavy noise rock with industrial tinges band from New Bedford, Massachusetts. If you like Distorted Pony, Unsane, Season to Risk, Cop Shoot Cop...all things noise rock basically...this is classic, essential, must-have stuff.  This is their 2nd full length. You come to this blog for goodies like this. Go on and get it.

CRAW - THE ADVENTURES OF CANCER MAN 7" (1996)

Ok, more Craw. I probably coulda lumped this and the split 7" into one post, but I didn't think that far in advance. So without a huge and lengthy description, this is basically one song. Which is a pretty killer song. The B-side is an audio book edit version that goes with the Derek Hess comic book, but is basically distracting and hard to listen too on its own. But its Craw so...you know...it kills!
(Super Model - 1996)

DL: CANCER MAN

CRAW / SICBAY SPLIT 7" (2001)

I think the band Craw have earned the title, "The Mighty Craw". Or "Craw the Mighty". Something along those lines. Their relentless, abusive, buzzsaw wrock-ness puts them at the top of the noise rock food chain. Bottom line, Craw is essential to anyone building a respectable noise rock music collection, or someone into taxidermy. That being said, this is also my first actions to excuse my weak behavior in not having any Craw on this blog yet. So you can bet your arse, I'll get to fixing that pronto.
Sicbay is an equally pummeling machine, and together you get 2 badass bands and 2 badass songs on this split 7" that will split your lip, head, and pants. Ooh, I feel a draft.

PUNCHING SWANS - MOLLUSC (2014)

Ahhh shit. Just finished a hell week of work. Hope yours was much better than mine. Here's some belligerent racket to take out the stressed out aggression with. Punching Swans from UK, under control and maniacal spazzing the fuck out at the same time.
Heres what they have to say...For connoisseurs of ruptured eardrums, for specialists in slinging phlegm (both professional and practicing), Mollusc is the skull fracture you've likely been pining for. Listen, slip on some brass knucks, and relinquish control of your limbs.
Sounds great to me. I'm grabbing some dirty and nasty booze to pair with this dirty and nasty record.

PART CHIMP - I AM COME (2005)

Hello Bastards!! (Relax. Its a song on this album. I wasn't being rude). Here's the 2nd banana tossing, full length thudderrrr from London's Part Chimp. Brute aggressive noise rock is really the only description this needs. I think these guys are still around, although their last release was back in 2011. Hopefully they're busy spinning the noise rock neurons in their noggins, getting some new slow jams ready for us.
Also, there was a request for this a while back, and I kept forgetting about it. But don't let shy you away from future requests. I try to get to all of them. And if I don't have it, I'll go steal it from a neighbor.

SOUNDS AGAINST VULTURES - WRITE YOUR PAIN (2014)

Vultures are pretty menacing creatures. So the name is appropriate... Sounds Against Vultures is a trio from France and play noise rock the way it supposed to be played... a mix of chugging, aggressive post-punk, mixed with angular indie-rock, glued together with spit, grime, duct tape and crunching noise rock bass lines. Songs get loud...they get quiet..they get chaotic. The guitars screech, the bass thuds, the drums play off-kilter like a math rock 'best of' album, and the vocals are rough and shredded. There's some Cutthroats 9 in there. Some Unwound. Some Fugazi. Some Tar. Some Johnboy. Write Your Pain is their debut 5 song EP, and its a solid effort. They're circling above. Watch out.

HIDE YOUR DAUGHTERS - TWISTED AND DISTORTED GENDER RELATIONS 101 (2003)

Damn, this is like 100 smacks to the face. Hide Your Daughters is a defunct Canadian band with members of KEN mode, Electro Quarterstaff, Kittens, Malefaction, Swallowing Shit, and Meatrack that existed from 2002-2010. For the most part it's gruff-ass hardcore noise like you'd expect, but there are some southern, drunky blues undertones very subtly in the mix. If you like KEN mode or any of the other bands mentioned, you'll dig this.

NO BALLS - COME CLEAN (2009)

Scuzzed out and fuzzed the fuck out cerebrum melting noise rock from No Balls, a Brainbombs side project of epic proportions from Sweden. Original pressings on Release the Bats sold out, so Permanent Records picked this up and did a reissue. Good thing cuz this shit will burrow into your ear canal and turn you into putty.

Remember that weird larvae thing put into Chekhov's ear from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan? It burrows in causing extreme pain and renders him extremely susceptible to outside suggestion. Over time, the subject suffers from madness... It's like that. Never saw? Do yourself a favor and watch it. With this album in the background. RIYL: Brainbombs, Drunkdriver, Twin Stumps.

GIDDY MOTORS - DO EASY (2006) & MAKE IT POP (2002)

Giddy Motors were from the UK and existed from 1999 to 2006. Members would eventually move on to a band called Poino. Which have been posted on this blog. (look it up for yourself). They put out 2 full lengths during that time as well as a slew of singles, most of which ended up compiled into a 'singles-album-compilation type thingy'.
If one listened to these guys without knowing any better, you would guess they were on an early 90s Touch and Go roster, with some similarities to a Jesus Lizard, Shorty and Fugazi school of noise rock percolating through your ear holes. Obligatory rock.

ARCWELDER - PULL (1993)

These guys really need no introduction.
Arcwelder was a 3-piece from Minneapolis, MN who put out some of the coolest Amrep sounding noise pop on (mostly) Touch and Go Records back in the 90s. They had a few earlier releases on Big Money Inc., before sliding over to T&G. To this day I can't believe they weren't bigger. My only explanation is...well...the 90s. There were alot of great bands back then, and they just got buried in the saturated 'cool music' market. For me, I'm kinda glad they stayed where they were, instead of signing that major label contract for 1 album, and then fizzling away.
This is their 3rd full length, and first on T&G. If you like Guzzard, Fugazi, Slint, Surgery, Drive Like Jehu, you'll be wanting to stuff this in your ear cavities.

THROAT - DISCOGRAPHY (2009 - 2013)

So way back in the early stages of this blog, I posted a few bands without much description, effort or anything else. Some of those bands deserve more attention, so I'm going back to fix my laziness. Clean up the garage so to speak.

Throat (Turku, Finland) blew me away the first time I heard 'em. Right up my fucking alley! I posted a link to Manhole without really much else. But, I feel they need a better post.
More of a, hey you, ugly...check this band out!
If you're a fan of this blog, chances are you know 'em. But maybe you need to revisit. Maybe you didn't realize all the releases they had. Or maybe they slipped past you. Whatever the case may be, Throat are the noise rock shit!! I put them right up with heavy hitters Hammerhead, Slug, Steel Pole Bath Tub, Melvins, Unsane, Cherubs, Jesus Lizard.
And all of their stuff is free on bandcamp! Free! Except 'Manhole', which is a measly dollar!! 1...measly...dollar!
Anyway, I cleaned up another part of the garage. And I feel better. And I found my snowblower. Time for a beer.

MURDEREDMAN - SELF TITLED EP & LOVE IN DANGER (2012 - 2013)

Murderedman's sonic assault is abrasive, acidic and unstoppable that is both intelligent and primitive. It seems Cleveland bands love to fuck with time signatures and Murderedman is indeed one of those bands, changing up time signatures on the drop of dime while never relenting in brutality and force. We're hearing hints of Craw, Twin Stumps and Brainbombs with dashes of feedback and whitenoise further distorting unhinged moans and yelps from a vocalist that is providing pure paranoid terror. Noise attack guitar nihilism, distorted bass grooves and bone shaking drum pummel all combine with frantic howls to make this one menacing urban annihilation. - Permanent Blog

New-ish 6 song effort from Dyess outta Hot-lanta. Its good to know that if the Walking Dead ever happens, these guys will go first. Heh heh.
Anyway, good noise rockin' stuff that reminds me of old Amrep roster alums... Surgery. Janitor Joe. Vertigo. Those come to mind. Vocals even remind me of Shannon from Heroine Sheiks /Hepa/Titus / Cows, etc. Enough band name dropping? Cool.

16 - CURVES THAT KICK (1993)

Since I just posted about 16, I had to mention their first album, and in my opinion, their sludgy best.

That there is the original cover art by Pushead. I know the art was updated when they signed to Relapse, and it ain't bad. But it ain't Pushead either. If you wander over to the bandcamp page, you'll find the new art, but this is the original art that I know, and was in place when I first discovered 16. So that's the art that gets posted here. Rock!

CONDUCT - FEAR AND DESIRE (2015)

Conduct is from Winnipeg, Canada, and they have a brand spanking new album out called Fear and Desire. These Canucks crank out 10 crunchy croutons of angular, mathy, post-indie, post-punk, post-noise type stuff.
Haha. Yep, its all that.
You can hear a melded blend of Shellac, Fugazi, Minutemen, and Big Boys in the melody and song structure, and also, maybe cuz of the Canadian water (or bacon), there's some Nomeansno in there too. The singer swirls around in a frantic craze reminding me of Nation of Ulysses or Cupid Car Club.

PFISTERS - NARCICITY 12" (2010)

Demented rock from Baltimore's Pfisters. This is their only album that I'm aware of, a 12" release on Fan Death Records. This definitely has some Jesus Lizard/Pissed Jeans influence, complete with David Yow-like slurring and sloppy spitting. I have the original of this and the cover is white, so not sure what's up with the red cover on their bandcamp page. Maybe its getting a re-issue, as not many of these were originally made. 16 - ZOLOFT SMILE (2003)

If my puny, and weak memory serves me just a little, it seems there was a request for this a while back.
Better late than never eh?
So 16 is a sludge rock band from LA, that has turned to more on the metal sludge side. They've even been picked up by Relapse. Good spot to be.
Honestly I haven't heard much of the newer stuff, but I like a bunch of their older stuff. I thought their first album, Curves that Kick was pretty badass, as well as a few other albums and singles. Zoloft Smile might be the last 16 album I heard actually, although now I'm curious to check out some of the newer stuff.
Enjoy the sludge-o-matic pummeling sounds of 16!

PECOLA - DAT HOANG EP (1996)

Here's a band that I've had in the queue ready to post, but keeps getting pushed back. So here ya go.

Pecola was a Toronto based math rock assemblage, existing in the mid 90s. They play a sort of noisier, aggressive and chaotic style of math rock, spiraling out of control like a bad night out boozing after losing your job and relationship. But at the last minute, grasp the joystick to level 'er out and regain control of the anarchy. 5 songs here on this EP. Good shit. Pick it up in the aisle with your calculators, rulers and other manipulatives.

OVER VERT - GAGGING AND SWALLOWING (2008)

And now for something different....
This is more on the hardcore / punk side than the usual noise rock tomfoolery that you'll find here on the bloggo! Over Vert was from Reno, Nevada and kinda takes me back to 90s hardcore, reminding me Econochrist, Detonators or Born Against. But its not all balls-to-the-walls ripping and shredding. They occasionally bring things down with some Nation of Ulysses-esqe structures which adds a nice flavor to the flow of the album.
Also wanted to mention that this was recorded by Steve Albini, which is reason enough to have this here, even though it doesn't sound like your typical Albini-fed record.
But everything he touches turns to gold generally, am I right?
