MAMA TICK - GIMME THE FIVE BUCKS (1994)

So sad, only 3 posts so far this month. Just as I figured. My life and time is getting ugly.
So how bout some ugly tunes from Mama Tick.

If you're into Shorty, Jesus Lizard, anything on Skin Graft records... mean looking pumpkins...then you certainly need to add 'Gimme The Five Bucks' to your supply.
File under unpleasant and offensive but necessary.

U-MEN - STEP ON A BUG (1988)

Ugly and loud. Greasey and grimey. Art fuck punk slop from Seattle.
U-Men were blasting grunge punk before was grunge was a household name.
Like a flaming turpentine cocktail of Birthday Party, Mudhoney, Gas Huffer, Killdozer and Scratch Acid.
Beeelllchh!

RUBBISH HEAP - SELF TITLED (1999)

Crusty, heavy, ripping and punishing noise punk from Rubbish Heap outta Antwerpen, Belgium,
active from 1995 to 2000.
They put out a couple of singles and a split cassette. This is their only full length.
If you looked up the definition of the word 'Destroy' in the dictionary, it should say...see Rubbish Heap.
9 songs. Like a packed punch to the peanuts.

NEUROSIS - SHORT WAVE WARFARE (1991)

So I'm seeing Neurosis tonite. Again.
I fuckin love Neurosis. Everything from the old crusty hardcore stuff, to the newer hyper-experimental stuff. Its all heavy, hard and good. (That's what she said.) Too old for that joke?

And while I'm thoroughly stoked for the show, the chances of them playing any of this old stuff is slim.
Hell, I would shit my pants for a full play thru of 'Through Silver in Blood'.... Wishful Thinking.
Regardless, this is some stellar old Neurosis live that is definitely necessary for your 'Filed under 'N' section on your music harddrive. Recorded during Pain Of Mind and Word Is Law Tours.
Maybe we can pretend we're seeing them together.

TRANSFIXR - TINCTURE (2014)

Its hot outside. I love it. I've been craving a big 'ol ice cream sunday.
Transfixr is a killer band from Austin, Tx.
And they're like a big ice cream sunday mix of Big'n, KEN mode, Unsane, and Season To Risk
shoved in your face. With lots of peanuts and hot fudge gooed on top. Mmmmm.

DROPOUTS - INTO FOAM (2012)

One of those bands that you say to yourself, damn that drummer is good.
Rapid-fast at times. But not always. Complex throughout...with lots of changes and fills.
Like I said..damn.
For the most part, Dropouts are heavy, and loud, hardcore style noise, but the songs weave from that to slower, almost 70s rock jams and stoner guitar parts, with some underlying math structures.
This is from 2012. Not sure what's up with them these days. I'm digging this. You should too.

THE JESUS LIZARD - PEEL SESSION (1991-92)

Did you know that David Yow can take a piss while walking and not get any on his pants.
He said it’s great if you have to pee and you also happen to be on a really long, straight walk, because you can look back and see the duration of your journey.
Your welcome.
Oh and 8 songs here. You can pee while you listen to them.

SO STRESSED - THE UNLAWFUL TRADE OF GRECO-ROMAN ART (2015)

Here's a little ditty for ya...some great stuff from a band called So Stressed from Sacramento, CA.
They play solid, buzzsaw ripping and post-hardcore influenced noise rock assault.
Pretty cleaned up and polished sounding, but ready to hand you your daily ass whooping.

This is a decent sounding show. Its a little rough, but kinda takes you back to the days of bootleg tapes.
C'mon its fucking punk rock, its not supposed to sound perfect.
Good set. 39 minutes. All songs but one come off You Ruin Everything.
Oh and again, I'm lazy. This is one long track.

Since I posted that Pigs EP on the last post, figured I should throw their full length up as well.
Also, they have a new album thats due out soon, that should pummel all kinds of ear canals.
And just to fix my lack of info...in addition to Dave Curran and Jim Paradise, the 3rd member of Pigs is Andrew Schneider, formerly of Slughog!! 3 bigs whollops for ya!!
