BIG'N - LIVE AT THE PRF BBQ AUKTOBERFEST (2010)
Let's stick with another Big'n post. These guys are so damn good.
8 songs from the PRF BBQ thing back in 2010.
Plus this is Memorial Day weekend in the US.
Lots of BBQs will be happening, and people getting shit-faced. So this seems appropriate.
And, I feel like the last few Fridays have been live stuff day.
I posted a live Unsane album and a live Halo Of Flies as well.
Let's see if my pea-brain can remember to keep posting live stuff every Friday.

GIANT HENRY - BIG BABY (1991 / 2013)
This Giant Henry album smokes!
A 2013 reissue of this 1991 release basically finds us looking at a pre-Unwound post hardcore band.
This features members that were in Unwound (duh), as well as Young Ginns, Worst Case Scenario, Fitz of Depression, Replikants, and Surviaval Knife.
This basically sounds like a mix of Unwound and early Nirvana. You need this!!

ELEPHANT RIFLE - IVORY (2015)
I remember the first time I heard Elephant Rifle, I was like...who the fuck are these guys, and how can they kick so much ass. I wouldn't steer you wrong...go back and listen.
Well this is their newest, 10 song effort. Only this time I'm saying, hey...I know who the fuck these guys are...and I'm glad they're still kicking so much ass.
You will agree with me once you cheese grate your ears with this bombastic concoction.
Grungy and noisy...the way its supposed to be.

FOSSILS - THE MEATING EP (2015)
So this band, Fossils from Denmark...had an album last year, 'Flesh Hammer' that was pretty good.
I though I had posted it. But apparently I was a miserable shit and forgot to do so. Sorry bout that.
So let's move on to this for now... The Meating is their new 7 song EP and from what I can tell they are pulling a Probot album.
Remember Probot? Dave Grohl got a bunch of badass metal bands like Sepultura, Venom, Motorhead, etc...to play with him. I thought it was a great idea and fantastic album.
This EP (a cassette release) takes a similar idea, featuring different people on vocals. Since Fossils is primarily a big and heavy, math-core sounding instrumental duo, I think it works well. Honestly I didn't recognize any of the names, but it doesn't keep me from enjoying the shit of this. You should too. And check out 'Flesh Hammer' while you're there.

Ok let's keep the Wreck going.
This is their first full length and sounds as awesome as the other stuff I've posted.
Again...this is essential stuff!

And the title might throw you off, cuz this is anything but noise deadening.

This 'un being their 2nd EP of 6 songs, before they recorded 2 full lengths.
And really, this EP is so great and chalked full of noisy goodness, it's practically full length quality.

Lots of Rapeman style whiplash rock for ya.

NOXAGT - SELF TITLED (2006)
A request through the comments section.
This was an example of a good request through comments...a few days ago.
If you comment from a 6 months ago or longer, chances are I probably wont see it, and you're S.O.L.
So on with this....
Ha. I gotta say, this cover still cracks me up when I see it. Fucking brilliant.
If you didn't know who Noxagt were and you saw this cover, you might be hesitant to dip into the pool...don't blame you there.
Butt, (ha, see what I did there?) once you know how off-the-hook this experimental, instrumental noise rock band is, you'll laugh at the cover, and proceed to get your head torn off and mangled, complete with body shakes and convulsions, after having this delivered thru your ear canals.

HEADS. - SELF-TITLED (2015)
This was actually sent my way from the band a bit ago... Thanks fellers.
Finally getting my slacker-ass around to it. Been busy. I got those BBQs to attend, TV to watch, and those pillows and blankets get lonely if you don't nap in them frequently. I love naps.
So Heads. (yes the period is supposed to be there) are from Berlin ...and this is their brand swanking new, debut 6 song EP.
Heavy on the bass... dense and thick noise rawk with dark lyrical content to make you feel ugly inside and out. Just how you love it.
If one were to slap a 'Recommended if You Like' label on this badboy, it would definitely have to mention the likes of Young Widows and Girls Against Boys. Yep.

FIELD BOSS - DOWN ON THE FARM (2014)
Not sure if that art is really TBD, or if they're pulling a Flipper / P.I.L. maneuver. This is from over a year ago, so I assume they woulda had time to update the art by now, right?
That aside, the blackness and heavyweight font does fit the mood on this earsplitting, doomy, noisy and heavy 6 song EP from UKs Field Boss.
Like a schmelding of Godflesh, Swans, Celan, Meatjack, and Neurosis.
Molasses-core.

WRECK - SONG X EP (1989)
Here's a cool little EP for ya.
A Chicago band called Wreck who was around in the early 90s and featured members of Waco Brothers and Die Kreuzen.
This is their first ep, 4 songs on a label that paralleled with Wax Trax Records, releasing mostly industrial music at the time. This could have easily been on Touch and Go back and really not sure why it wasn't.
This was ridiculized by knob-twister Steve Albini, and sounds like an early Shellac/ Big Black/ New Brutalism type thing. So you know you want it. Go on. Partake in the goodness.

LOWERCASE - TWO SONGS 7" (1994)

But I wouldn't be able to sleep tonite knowing that I left the new Ladder Devils out in the cold without a thumbs up. (Well ok I can pretty much sleep thru anything actually).

MOSE MANUAL - 3 x 3 (2013)
So the description on their bandcramp page says these guys played in a million other bands, but the 2 they mentioned, including this 'un, I had never heard before.
That doesn't mean alot tho since... what the fuck do I really know?
Regardless of whatever stuffs they claim to have done in the past, lets get to the present and this. 'Cause it's really good and you'll want to plant your earballs on this.
Sent in by an internet friend 'o the blog (thanks thanks)... Austin, Texas' Mose Manual kicks all kind of butt with this 7 song release.
If you take Pissed Jeans some Hawks and some Young Widows and mixed all that together with paint varnish and formaldehyde...you'd be enjoying some not-so-feel-good music.

TIGON - INFINITE TEETH (2012)
So I was sent a link to this album, and the name sounded familiar.
Turns out I had a single from these guys from back in 2009, and they sounded like Botch.
That 7" that is on their Bandcamp page and is great...check that out!
This newer full length is good too, although not as Botch-y. There is some post-hardcore moments, but they mix in some Slint sounds, some Unwound sounds and even some Isis/Dillinger Escape type ripping and tearing.
The vocals are close to screamo, but not annoying like I find with alot of screamo bands.
Just my opinion...man. Overall...worth your close to 40 min of time.

So it's really nice and warm here in Chicago now. That awful winter is finally behind us, and we can finally enjoy some sun and warmth. Reminds me of San Diego weather. So I thought I'd fling some San Diego rock in your general direction.
So this band Tanner was from there (duh). They have 2 full albums and a few singles.
Ill Gotten Gains is their first record and could be considered a classic. I would consider it.

NOMOS / THE MEN - SPLIT EP (2010)
That last 'The Men' album I posted, got me thinking about this 6-song split with Nomos.
This was originally a cassette release...which is funny cuz the label is called Vinyl Rites.
So The Men are still cranking out abrasive noisy rock at this point, before the moved to a more garage-y sound. Nomos are pretty much straight up hardcore.
Let's break some shit!!!

Housewife is/was from Austin, Texas, and they definitely have that whirling, swirling, dissonant and melodic geetar sound. Of course this is more on the indie/post-punk side, than the balls out, rough and gruff stuff that is here about every other post. But definitely has its place here. This is their 3rd full length.
